It would be interesting to see the council's policy of what council-owned public access computers are allowed to be used for. Then compare it with the modern idea that libraries are "knowledge centres", welcoming places where people can go to find things out, broaden their horizons and expand their minds!

If visitors to their town library are prevented from doing anything more than checking their email, it makes the computers nearly useless. I don't suppose there was a queue. The local paper will be interested in visitors who may think twice before going back!

"IT people" are workplace computer support drones with POWER and exercising it is the only fun they're allowed!

There is some point to the restrictions though as they must make sure that people can't use the council-owned library equipment for unpleasant purposes, however much it affects those with innocent purposes in mind, going about their normal harmless activities like looking at pictures of trees, flowers and beach huts.

As with so many other aspects of life, organisations have rules which are those they find the easiest to enforce, rather than ones which distinguish properly between good and bad behaviour, and whether it actually prevents the latter.

Katie - it might be web filtering software - our Internet access at work has that, which means no Flickr at all…

Is it full now? It looked glorious last night and appeared to be 100% full.
It never seems as high in the sky in the summer as it does in winter. Can this be true or am I imagining it?

While flower pictures aren't really my thing usually, I think this one is amazing and beautiful!

It reminds me of the Star Trek film I saw I few days ago where Kirk's team boarded the unmanned space craft threatening Earth to communicate with its computer control. The craft looked rather like this picture, with petals and an intricate centre, but space-worn and dirty, and much less colourful.
